A Meditation Commitment

It is with great enthusiasm that I write this first post for Sharon’s February Meditation Challenge. This is my third year taking the challenge and my first year blogging about it. I was never one for monthly challenges of any kind until I started meditating five years ago. Like any commitment, life can throw us off balance and so goes our consistency. I find challenges like Sharon’s to be accessible, inspiring and motivational. While my practice has been consistent for quite some time I am glad to share, taking on these challenges keeps the garden watered and can even sprout new seedlings.  I look forward to this year’s Meditation Challenge and look forward to connecting with all of you as we deepen our awareness and open our hearts a bit more. The sentiment “If not now, when?” popped into my mind. And this is the essence of making meditation a key part of our lives. With the complexity and messiness of life, there is never the best time to begin, except for NOW. This is all we truly have – right now! And as Sharon often says, “We can always begin again.” So I encourage us all to take this challenge, to begin a meditation practice now and again and again and again. Our hearts, our minds, our bodies, our families, our communities, and our world will be better for it! Let’s sit!
