Is balance measured over days? Weeks? Months? Breaths? While meditation can bring balance and perspective during practice the true value is revealed over longer time frames. I find that while the lows and highs are still there it has become almost automatic to moderate the peaks and valleys via meditation techniques that become familiar through daily practice. Letting the circular thoughts of the parking ticket you got just slide away as something in the past and not worthy of disrupting the present. Noticing the path of the breath rather than mashing the horn when getting cut off in traffic. This and so many more small things occur when I engage in a regular practice and are the true benefits of meditation.
