Sharon and Sylvia Boorstein come together fro a virtual workshop Mindfulness On and Off the Cushion. This workshop will examine how inner practices of contemplation and daily activities not always considered part of dedicated formal meditation — what Sayadaw UPandita of Burma called “the in-between times,”—can form a unified field.Register here
Guided by values such as kindness and presence, the inner work and the outer work become permutations of concentration and awareness—enough concentration to cultivate steadiness in the mind and enough alertness to cultivate wisdom. Think of it as “How To Pay Loving Attention While you are Trying to Attend to Something Else” like driving in frustrating traffic or mediating disputes between sibling children or continuing to ‘stay on hold and your call will be taken.’ Instruction will include an explanations of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness and the Buddha’s Teaching on Universal Kindness, and what that means and doesn’t mean.
This virtual retreat will be conducted through Zoom on Saturday June 10, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET. A limited number of Garrison Institute partial scholarships are also available for this retreat.
