Saturday, January 14: Lovingkindness
Lovingkindness is a meditation that cultivates our natural capacity for an open and loving heart. It is traditionally offered with meditations that enrich compassion, and joy in the happiness of others, and also deepen our own sense of peace. These practices lead to the development of concentration, connection, fearlessness, and genuine happiness. Sharon will introduce these teachings and support us in our own experience and cultivation of these qualities through direct instruction and guided meditation using classical techniques in a modern idiom. There will also be opportunities for questions. This daylong workshop is suitable for both new and experienced meditators.
Sunday, January 15: Equanimity
Equanimity is a spacious stillness of mind that allows us to be with things as they simply are. It does not imply indifference, however. Rather, when equanimity is present, it is the ground out of which sustained transformation can occur. It is also the foundation for the boundless arising of other qualities of the mind and heart, such as lovingkindness and compassion. Through guided meditations, talks about the Buddha’s teachings and Q&A periods, this daylong workshop will explore the power of equanimity in all aspects of daily life. Suitable for both new and experienced meditators.
