I did the Sharon Salzberg meditation challenge a few years ago. It was nice – I was just starting to get into meditation. I had no idea how powerful it could be and I continue a meditation practice. It is definitely a practice because it is never perfect and ebbs and flows, much like my life.
I am not much of a dishwasher (I am blessed to have been able to hire cleaners this year.) I decided, since this is the end of week two and Sharon asked us to pick what resonated, to do another walking meditation. Back in 2016 when I first got sober and had an outrageous amount of weight to lose I started walking every single day. I could hardly walk up and down my parent’s street at first, carrying my oxygen tank in a little bag. I didn’t know it then but I was practicing walking meditation. As my walks progressed to longer distances I would use that time to reflect and clear my head and move towards positive future thought.
After my end of 2019 year little slump I’m working towards the same. 2019 was actually a great year. My walking meditation this morning has been peaceful as I reflected on just that as well as being so hopeful for today. It is a good day to have a great day!
