I’m noticing lately how little effort it takes to open to joy. It was helpful to do that in seated practice today and then return to it during the day. For example: Driving 2 hours on the highway, I remembered to take in this moment — driving some moving boxes out to a friend’s house, the start of a big adventure — rather than just pushing through the task. Again, holding cold, fat carrots at the farm stand — oh yeah, joy! I aspire to slow down just a hair and notice these moments more.
