What a week!
I’ve been meditating off and on for years. Today was the first time I’ve heard “not the breath” as a way of labeling thoughts, and I found it tremendously helpful. It removes any and all opportunities for judging my thoughts as I come back to the breath.
I didn’t post yesterday, so here’s a quick note about it: when I finished the day 6 meditation, I envisioned myself in the middle of a hectic classroom, pausing to remember the balance between effort and relaxation. Later, when I got home from school, I realized that I had not experienced such a moment during teaching. And that is okay.
With consistent practice I know it will get easier to remember these tools off the cushion.
Onward.
