Practicing lovingkindness is really a unique way to think and see. When walking around in my community, I am usually focused on my end goal (shopping list, appointments, errands…).
Regarding strangers, I either direct judgments or indifference their way. When I bump into an acquaintance, I am usually too busy to exchange more than a quick pleasantry, before we are both off on our way.
Practicing loving kindness in the community is a way to positively engage and connect with others without placing any demands. This makes me smile.
