Concentration is a significant component of mindfulness meditation. Today’s lesson focused on noting when we drift away from the focus of the breath. The purpose of the focus is to note we drifted. Along with that we are not to judge or comment on the drift, just note it and return to the breath.
Drifting away from our focus of concentration is a normal occurrence. It happens to everyone at some point in their meditation practice. Today’s lesson is a tool to aid us in returning our focus while being gentle with ourselves. Why do we do this? At times some of the distractions will be pleasant and at times unpleasant. This practice of noting will help us in both instances.
