The final week of the challenge is here and we start with #LovingKindness. I have to admit, I had a hard time thinking of something good I did yesterday. I know I did things – it was a very busy day yesterday. I think the 8 hours of meetings I had today made thinking back to yesterday difficult. But, as #SharonSalzberg noted in the lesson that it could be anything like thanking a bus driver – I recalled I did do some things – like thanking the bus driver and going to lunch with a friend who needed to talk.
We we shifted to a thinking about a friend, the good things just flew into my mind. I paused and thought that I really did need to start recognizing the good within myself, so that I could help that grow and enable me to see more of the good in others, including those I do not know well. May all beings be happy – everyone wants to be happy. We all want the same thing. Think about that for a moment. At the core of us all is the desire to be happy. This meditation today helped that really sink in for me. If we can be happy with ourselves, look for the good in others, and recognize that we are all similar in our desire – the impact that would have on life would be tremendous.
I felt this #metta meditation today was timely given #SharonSalzberg’s recent health concerns. Sending thoughts of #lovingkindess, #healing, and #strength to Sharon.
