Today’s focus is sensations, sort of having us focus on how we’re feeling/what we’re feeling and are we in the present or holding on to the past or projecting into the future. What I really enjoyed about this meditation, including the written intro, was the gentle approach of describing how we hold on to things and this can impact our ability to be in the present moment. How much of what we think is sensations turns into what we worry will happen? Another way to look at it is that we are focusing on sensations while sifting through self talk episodes. This self-talk can happen with negative situations, and at times positive ones (you may think that “I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop”).
I have a very hard time not drifting into self talk when the situation is neither good or bad – it just is. I have been attempting to work on this, and the tools learned in todays meditation will help.
