Join Krishna Das, Sharon Salzberg, and guest teacher Robert Thurman, for a weekend immersion exploring a world of great possibility in Real Love: The Power of the Loving Heart. These three friends bring a lifetime of experience nurturing a greater capacity for love rooted in both the Buddhist and Bhakti traditions.
In this weekend retreat, they offer practical tools and techniques to learn to distinguish between the skillful habits that lead to awareness and deeper connection, and the unskillful habits that reinforce our sense of separation. Additional retreat staff includes daily yoga classes by Lily Cushman and chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa by Nina Rao.
Whether consciously or unconsciously, we all live our lives searching for a sense of belonging, yet still find ourselves feeling cut off and alone. What holds us back from connecting to ourselves, to our core emotional needs – as well as to one another and to our individual and shared experiences alike? What keeps us from realizing our essential need for real love? Complimentary chanting and meditation practices allows us to reach into our hearts, open them, and take risks by breaking free of the limits and expectations of love we usually carry. In doing so, we create a spacious balance of mind that allows us a more direct, experiential relationship with love. Join us for an immersive weekend to explore the magnitude of the heart and the transformative power of love within us.
This one-of-a-kind weekend retreat allows participants to delve deeper into the practices of kirtan, meditation and yoga. Each morning begins with yoga classes led by Lily Cushman, followed by group chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa led by Nina Rao and friends. Following this is a early afternoon Meditation session with Sharon with time for practice as well as teaching. The afternoons feature the workshop segment of the program with both KD, Sharon and Bob, in which they share their own experiences about the spiritual path and open things up question and answers. Each evening includes a full Kirtan with Krishna Das with call-and-response chanting.

An enemy – whether within, in the shape of a habitual, painful mind state, or without – as someone for whom we steadily feel antipathy or fear, marks the edge between limited lovingkindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity and the potential boundlessness of these qualities. In this evening’s talk Sharon will explore inner and outer enemies, look at the fear, anger and anguish generated by being stuck in a mode of “us” and “them”, and focus on the liberation we are capable of. There will be periods of dialogue, discourse, and meditation practice. Suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators.
