Join Sharon on December 12th and 13th for two days of online teachings on Working with Your Enemies: Finding Freedom from Hostility and Fear, hosted by the Drepung Gomang Center for Engaging Compassion.
An enemy, whether within (in the shape of a habitual, painful mind state) or without (as someone whom we find is trying to harm us or those we care about) marks the edge between limited lovingkindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity and the potential boundlessness of these qualities, which is freedom even in very difficult circumstances.
In this workshop we will explore inner and outer enemies, look at the fear, anger and anguish generated by being stuck in a mode of "us" and "them", and focus on the liberation we are capable of. We will explore how this is different than toxic positivity, being conflict avoidant, or being too timid to take a stand. And we will explore what it is like to find strength in being motivated by compassion instead of antipathy, which can just wear us down.
Suitable for both beginning and more experienced meditators. There will be periods of dialogue, discourse, and meditation practice.
